Man arrested by federal agents for 2021 South Austin murder

Federal agents have arrested a man in connection with a fatal 2021 stabbing in South Austin, the United States Marshals said in a press release Friday.

Mithovar Christopher Antoine Jr., 22, was arrested Thursday in the 200 block of West Avenue G in Temple and charged with murder in connection with the July 23, 2021, death of 23-year-old Nikolas Eugenio Martinez, the news release said.

Martinez called 911 at 10:30 p.m. to report the stabbing after driving himself to a convenience store in the 2000 block of South Interstate 35, north of Oltorf Street, the American-Statesman previously reported. Emergency responders found Martinez outside the Conoco convenience store, where Martinez succumbed to his injuries at 10:47 p.m., the news release said.

The Austin Police Department's Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Antoine on Sept. 11 and requested assistance from the Austin division of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force in locating and arresting Antoine in Temple, where he was known to be residing, the press release said.

Antoine was booked into the Bell County Jail and will be extradited to Travis County for trial.
