Tragic fire in Kpone Kokompe claims two-year-old child and three other victims

  • Four people, including a 14-year-old girl, died in a fire in Kpone Kokompe on Friday, September 13.
  • The fire also engulfed 10 wooden structures and destroyed personal belongings, firefighters said.

Four people died in a fire in Kpone Kokompe on Friday, September 13.

Among the dead are a 14-year-old girl, two boys aged 11 and 2, and a 27-year-old man.

According to the fire department, the fire started at 11:28 p.m. and spread quickly. Ten wooden structures were ablaze and many personal belongings were destroyed.

It said the team arrived on scene at 11:47 p.m., worked quickly to bring the fire under control by 12:31 a.m. and completely extinguished it by 12:55 a.m.

The fire has caused grief among the population and the Ghana Fire Service has expressed its condolences to the grieving families and all those affected by the tragedy.

Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, limiting further damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Fire brigade prevents tanker explosion

Firefighters prevented an explosion after responding to an emergency call.

Firefighters from the Suhum fire station responded to a severe tanker fire on April 29, 2024.

There were no injuries in the fire and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.

A statement from the service said it took employees several minutes to bring the tanker fire under control.

Four firefighters injured after building collapse

Meanwhile, four Ghana Fire Service officers sustained various injuries when parts of a burning building collapsed on them in West Legon, Accra.

Two of the injured people were in critical condition after the incident on January 24, 2024.

Chief Firefighter Julius A. Kuunuor and other members of the service visited the two firefighters when they were admitted.

Kuunuor assured the injured officers that the service was committed to providing them with the best medical care, prayed for their speedy recovery and thanked them for their selfless service.
