Man found guilty of manslaughter in fatal shooting of his half-brother in Boston in 2021

A man has been found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of his half-brother in Boston in 2021, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office said.

Oscar Bolding, 45, killed his half-brother, 40-year-old Levar Foster, on May 24, 2021, during Foster's nephew's college graduation party, prosecutors said in a news release. The two men were attending the party at a home on Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester when they got into an argument and had to be separated by family members.

Foster left the apartment to calm down, but when he returned, the two men began fighting again, prosecutors said. Bolding then pulled out a gun and shot Foster once in the chest, killing him.

“The fact that these men were half brothers adds an additional tragedy to this incident. And that it occurred at what should have been a joyous celebration in honor of a relative's college graduation makes it even sadder,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden.

Bolding was originally charged with murder and three weapons offenses in connection with the shooting. His sentencing is scheduled for September 17, prosecutors said.
