Young person killed, 2 women injured in shooting at Richmond apartments

RICHMOND, Virginia – Police are investigating a shooting that left a teenager dead and two women injured at a south Richmond apartment complex Saturday night.

According to Captain Frank Scarpa of the Richmond Police Department, officers were called to the Belt Atlantic Apartments in the 4000 block of Midlothian Turnpike shortly after 10:10 p.m.

When police arrived, they found three victims. One person died at the scene, while two women were taken to a nearby hospital, Scarpa said.

The deceased victim is an underage boy, sources told Crime Insider Jon Burkett.

According to these sources, one of the women suffered life-threatening injuries.

“The Major Crimes Unit is investigating,” Scarpa said.
