2 pedestrians killed in separate collisions in Outaouais overnight

Two pedestrians were killed in two separate car accidents during the night from Saturday to Sunday in the Outaouais region.

The first incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Route 105 in Messines.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, a pedestrian in her 60s was hit by a car while crossing the street in the dark. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to Maniwaki Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

An accident reconstructionist was dispatched to the scene to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident. The road was reopened to traffic at 1:40 a.m.

The second accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when another pedestrian was hit on Saint-Louis Street in the Touraine district of Gatineau, police said.

Emergency services took the victim to Hull Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The area remained closed to traffic on Sunday morning while police investigated the incident.
