Tumbbad actor Sohum Shah is gearing up for seventh heaven. His film is being re-released and the sequel is also being announced. In an exclusive chat with India TV, national award-winning producer and actor Sohum Shah spoke about his journey to making the film. But what stuck in our minds the most was the fact that he made a big revelation about the shooting dates of Tumbbad 2.

What did Sohum Shah say about Tumbbad 2 and 3?

Yes! You read that right, the shooting of Tumbbad 2 will officially begin in 2025. Moreover, the actor has all but confirmed that the third part of Tumbbad will be a prequel to the first film. The second part, on the other hand, will deal with the story of Vinayak Rao's son Pandu Rang. This also means that the prequel might deal with the story of Hastar and his birth. Since the prequel is planned, it is possible that Sohum Shah might also be a part of the film.

Sohum Shah spoke about the difficulties in making the film

The actor and producer revealed that it took almost two decades for Tumbbad to hit the screens. Written by Rahi Anil Barve, the film was sold to several media houses but the producers failed to see the potential of the story. Bollywood star director Anurag Kashyap also tried to make the film but failed. Eventually, the story of Tumbbad reached Sohum Shah and he decided to not only produce the film but also act in it. Director Rahi Anil Barve was sure from the beginning that Sohum would play the role of Vinayak Rao.

Even after two National Awards, the fight continues

Sohum Shah won a National Award for Best Producer for Ship of Theseus. His film Tumbbad and web series Maharani were highly praised but the actor stated that he continued to face problems. In an exclusive conversation with India TV, the actor said that even after winning the National Award, he faced difficulties in getting his films produced by big media houses. But looking back on the good times, Sohum Shah said that he is very happy with the enthusiasm being shown towards Tumbbad's re-release as the film is finally getting the recognition it deserves, albeit after 6 years.
