Speeding SUV rams motorcycle, kills one and injures pillion rider in Mumbai's Dashidar

A motorcyclist was killed and the pillion rider injured on Friday when an SUV collided with their motorcycle in Mumbai's Dahisar. The accident occurred at 4 pm. According to an India Today report, three friends, Karan Rajput, Aditya and Piyush Shukla, were riding on two motorcycles from Dahisar to Kandivali with Karan and Aditya riding on the same motorcycle.

As they reached the Shailendra High School bridge, a speeding car rammed Karan's bike, seriously injuring him and Aditya. Karan, who was seriously injured, lost consciousness, reported India Today. After the accident, the car sped away, leaving the injured man lying there. Aditya and Piyush managed to rush Karan to a hospital, where he died during treatment.

According to India Today, Dahisar police said a case has been registered and they are actively searching for the driver responsible for the hit-and-run accident.

Hit and run in Goregaon

The case came about two weeks after a 24-year-old milk vendor died in Mumbai's Goregaon area when an SUV driven by a teenager ran over his two-wheeler. The SUV, driven by a 17-year-old, was allegedly travelling in the wrong direction when it hit the victim Navin Vaishnaw, PTI reported.

The police then arrested the underage driver of the SUV. “Since the accused driver is 17 years old, a case has also been filed against the SUV owner Iqbal Jivani (48) and his son Mohammed Faz Iqbal Jivani (21),” the PTI news agency quoted a police officer as saying. The accused is a friend of the SUV owner's son, who was also said to have been present in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

A case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act and further investigation is underway.
