West Bengal: Woman sleeping next to her sick son in Kolkata hospital sexually assaulted, accused arrested – Kolkata News

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly abused by a health worker while she was sleeping in a government hospital in Kolkata where her child was admitted for treatment.

According to the woman's complaint, the incident occurred while she was sleeping in the paediatric ward of the Institute of Child Health (ICH) in Kolkata, where her child was admitted for treatment.

The accused, Tanay Pal (26), who previously worked as a ward boy in the hospital, entered the children's ward, touched the woman inappropriately and removed her clothes, the complaint states.

The defendant also recorded the incident on his cell phone, the complaint continues.

The incident occurred weeks after a Assistant doctor was raped and murdered in the state-run RG Kar Hospital in KolkataSanjay Roy, a volunteer, was arrested the next day in connection with the crime.

After receiving the complaint about the incident, the Kolkata Police filed a complaint under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and arrested the accused.

The police also seized Pal's mobile phone and sent it for forensic examination. He was later produced before a local court which remanded him in police custody.

Earlier this month, a man was also arrested for allegedly harassing a duty nurse at a government hospital in Birbhum district of West Bengal.

The incident occurred when the nurse was administering a saline infusion to the man, who had been brought to the health center on a stretcher because of high fever.

According to the nurse's report to the police, the patient touched her inappropriately while she was caring for him. The nurse further claimed that the patient not only touched her inappropriately but also used abusive words towards her.

After the incident, the accused was arrested by the police.
