Kentucky vs. Georgia – Preview and Prediction

As Georgia went into halftime with a deficit of 6:3, Kentucky, Kirby Smart shared a health update on a key player, running back Trevor Etiennewho reportedly struggled with a shoulder injury in the first half.

While an initial report said Etienne was out for today, Smart said that may not be true. He told the ESPN reporter more about Etienne Molly McGrath at halftime.

“Maybe he can come back,” Smart said. “He did a phenomenal job tonight. He's running like crazy. We need to help him, we need to get some looser players, get some things going.”

Etienne finished the first half with nine carries for 26 yards, making him Georgia's leading runner.

Overall, Georgia's offense was hampered in the first half by both a series of injuries – to Etienne and others – and a strong effort from Kentucky's defense.

The entire game in the first two quarters was difficult to watch, with the Bulldogs' offense managing fewer first downs (three) than punts. Quarterback Carson Beck finished the first two quarters with 5 of 11 passes for 32 yards.

“Well, their defense has been the biggest challenge for our team,” Smart said. “We haven't shown much explosiveness offensively. We haven't been able to create anything offensively. We don't have much rhythm offensively. You have to give them credit, that's the road in the SEC. That's the way it is.”
