Man sentenced to life imprisonment for kidnapping and raping minors

They said the incident took place on February 18, 2019, when the victim was 14 years old. On the same day, an FIR was filed against the suspect at Sadar police station under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other sections of the Indian Penal Code, they said.

According to investigators, the suspect was tracked down within a day and taken into custody after his arrest.

Investigators said the victim testified during the suspect's trial and the medical examination proved that she had been sexually abused.

Based on incriminating evidence, the judge of the Ashwani Kumar Court, a special fast-track court, found the suspect guilty on September 7 and imposed a life sentence on him.

Sunil Kumar Parmar, special public prosecutor who tried the case, said the court had observed while delivering the verdict that in such cases of crimes against women, a convict must be given the maximum possible punishment to set an example to the society.

“The court also imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh to the convict which will be paid to the victim's family. In case of non-payment of the fine, the convict will have to serve a simple jail term of further six months,” he added.
