Government school teacher arrested for sexual harassment in Belagavi, Karnataka

Belagavi: A teacher of a government primary school at Chikkodi in Belagavi district was arrested after being accused of sexually harassing girls at the school. The teacher has been booked under the provisions of the Pocso Act.

One of the girls who were allegedly bullied by teacher Mohammad Sadiq Gous Mohidin Miyobeg came home crying one day and told her parents about the torture she had suffered at the hands of the teacher. Her parents filed a complaint against Miyobeg, and he was arrested.

Superintendent of Police Dr Bhimashankar Guled confirmed that the teacher was arrested and booked under the Pocso Act. He said a complaint was filed against the teacher on Friday evening. The Chikkodi police are reportedly investigating the case further.

Meanwhile, all attempts to reach the Deputy Director of Education (in-charge of Chikkodi MA Mekanamaradi) to enquire about the proceedings against Miyobeg were unsuccessful as his work phone was switched off.
