PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 14 — Police are investigating a stabbing and robbery that occurred late Friday night at a convenience store on North Broad Street. A man was seriously injured in the incident, which occurred around 11 p.m.

SEPTA police officers found the victim, a store clerk, with stab wounds to his right arm. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital and remains in critical condition. Ninth Precinct officers later secured the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to police, the suspect entered the store and demanded money from the cash register with a box cutter. After stealing an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect attempted to flee. A second employee was stabbed twice when he tried to intervene.

The suspect was later discovered by SEPTA officers underground at 1500 Market Street. Police confirmed he matched the description and was positively identified. Further details on the suspect's identity are expected once charges are filed.

Detectives in the Northeast continue to investigate the incident.

    BROOKLYN, NY — Police are searching for a suspect who attacked a 74-year-old man in Sunset Park last month after a verbal argument over a vehicle.

    The incident occurred on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m. in front of 6010 8th Avenue. Authorities said the victim tapped on the suspect's vehicle to signal that he was behind it as the driver began backing up. The driver then exited the vehicle and got into a verbal altercation with the older man.

    The situation escalated when the perpetrator hit the 74-year-old several times in the face and head, causing him to fall to the ground. The perpetrator then fled in the vehicle to an unknown location.

    The victim was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn where he was listed in stable condition. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

  • Man barricades himself in apartment after alleged gun threat in Northeast Philadelphia

    PHILADELPHIA, PA — Police responded to a barricade situation early Saturday morning after a woman reported being threatened with a firearm at a Northeast Philadelphia apartment. The incident occurred in the 5000 block of Griscom Street.

    At around 12:52 a.m., authorities received a 911 call about the threat. Officers then went to the scene. When they arrived, the male suspect barricaded himself in the rear apartment, according to police.

    At 1:02 a.m., the cordon was imposed and SWAT was called to the scene. The standoff ended at 3:49 a.m. when the male suspect was arrested without further incident.

    No injuries were reported. Northeast Detectives are continuing their investigation into the situation.
