Another woman, who was also riding the two-wheeler, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the GMC for treatment. Mandrem police have arrested the driver of the rickshaw and the truck.
Deepak Kharbe, a resident of Mandrem, stated in his complaint that the driver of the goods transporter, Dayanand Bandhkar, drove recklessly and negligently.
Kharbe said that Bandhkar was travelling from Agarwada to Mandrem at around 10:50 am. Kharbe said when Bandhkar's goods carrier reached Deulwada, he suddenly slammed on the brakes despite knowing that his act would result in injury or death to commuters in the area.

Police added: “All drivers fell on the road and were hit by the truck.”
Kannappa Vantamuri, the driver of the truck, was driving recklessly and negligently towards Agarwada, police said. Vantamuri is a resident of Karnataka. “He fatally injured Priyanka and Sanika,” police said. “Shetkar sustained serious injuries.”
The victims were initially taken to the community health center in Tuem, where two of them were pronounced dead.
“Bandhkar and Vantamuri fled the scene in their vehicles,” police said.
“Both the accused were arrested and their vehicles were seized,” said Sheriff Jacque of Mandrem PI.
An autopsy revealed that the two deceased women had suffered numerous injuries to their heads and faces as a result of blunt force trauma, police said.
