CSPD is looking for 11-month-old child and mother

COLORADO SPRINGS – Colorado Springs police are searching for an 11-month-old child and his mother.

A CSPD spokesperson told me their initial investigation was inaccurate, and after further investigation overnight, police are convinced the child is with a biological parent who still has legal rights.

Police are searching for the two to conduct a welfare check. Police will not release any pictures of the mother and child, as they explained in an email: “…but since we know who the child is with, we do not need to publicly search for information at this time…”

A police report states that the mother picked up the child from the child's father at the Texas Roadhouse on Friday evening. The woman was preparing to leave and asked the child's father to see the child before leaving, police said.

Despite a restraining order against the child's mother, the father agreed to the meeting. The father told police that while they were meeting at the Texas Roadhouse on Powers Boulevard, he went outside to get a diaper bag. When he returned, the child and mother were gone.

Police attempted to contact the child's mother without success. Police are unsure if she left the state with the child. A warrant was issued for the mother's arrest for violation of an order of protection, and missing persons reports were filed for both the child and the mother.
