Fort Edward man arrested and charged with rape

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office arrested Zepplin S. Murphy, 40, of Fort Edward on Wednesday for sexual assault.

According to police, the attack reportedly occurred Tuesday evening at a residence on Route 9 in Moreau.

Murphy is accused of forcing a woman to have sexual contact and using coercive measures against her.

According to the sheriff's office, he was arrested and charged with first-degree rape and second-degree false imprisonment.

Murphy was arraigned in Moreau Municipal Court and released on bail pending further proceedings in the matter.
