According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks have signed free agent guard Landry Shamet to a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old guard will join his sixth team in his seven-year career. Shamet played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards and now the Knicks.

The NBA rookie has played in 348 games in his career and averaged 8.7 points per game, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 38.4 percent from the three-point line. The Missouri native attended Wichita State before the 76ers selected him with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

His rookie season was unforgettable. Shamet earned a spot on the 2018-19 All-Rookie team, where he averaged 9.1 points per game, 1.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.5 blocks while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 42.2 percent from the three-point line with the 76ers and Clippers.

The 76ers traded Shamet to Los Angeles before the 2019 NBA trade deadline. Shamet and the Clippers made the postseason in 2019 after a season of low expectations. He played big for the Clippers in the postseason, including in Game 2 of the first round against the Golden State Warriors, scoring 12 points and the game-winning 3-pointer in a 31-point comeback that led to a 135-131 Clippers victory.

After his tenure with the Clippers, which ended with a second-round loss to the Denver Nuggets in 2020, Shamet was traded to the Nets as part of a three-way trade that also saw Luke Kennard join the Clippers.

In one season in Brooklyn, he averaged 9.3 points per game, 1.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.5 steals in 61 games and 12 starts while shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from the three-point line.

The Nets lost in the second round of the 2021 postseason to eventual champions, the Milwaukee Bucks.

Before the 2021-22 season, Shamet was traded to the Suns in exchange for Jevon Carter and the draft rights to Day'Ron Sharpe. Shortly before the start of the season, Shamet signed a four-year, $43 million rookie contract extension.

After two seasons in Phoenix, they traded Shamet along with Chris Paul, four first-round picks and six second-round picks to the Wizards for Bradley Beal, Jordan Goodwin and Isaiah Todd.

Shamet is a solid player and should provide some shooting and defensive ability for the Knicks, who were just eliminated in the second round. The hope is that the Knicks can finish the job this season and make it past the second round for the first time since 2000.
