Irish Premiership: Larne beats Linfield and takes first league win of the season

First goals for their new club from Scottish imports Connor Murray and Mackenzie Carse and a second goal of the season from Rhyss Campbell helped Coleraine to a comfortable 3-1 win over Carrick Rangers.

Coleraine broke the deadlock after half an hour in spectacular fashion.

Midfielder Connor Murray, on loan from Scottish club Hamilton Academical, created space after cutting inside from the wing before curling the ball high into the roof of the net with his right foot from a beautiful angle.

However, the lead lasted barely three minutes as Carrick reacted almost immediately.

A deflected ball confused the home side's defence and the evergreen Paul Heatley pounced on it. His opportunistic shot deflected and went past the helpless goalkeeper Rory Brown.

The Bannsiders almost took the lead again eight minutes before half-time, but Carse's close-range shot went just wide of the bar after good work from the impressive Murray.

The midfielder, however, did not let himself be held back for long and gave his team a second lead five minutes after the restart when he fired in from close range after Ross Glendinning had brilliantly saved an 18-yard shot from Dean Jarvis.

And the points were secured in the 73rd minute when substitute Campbell, who had only been on the pitch for a few minutes, jumped highest at the far post to head in Jamie Glackin's corner.

The hosts were denied a fourth goal by a brilliant save from Glendinning at the near post, but they can still celebrate their impressive second win of the season.
