18-year-old dies in traffic accident that closes Route 25 in Trumbull

TRUMBULL, Connecticut (WFSB) – Police are investigating a fatal crash that caused Route 25 to be closed for several hours Friday evening.

Troop G Operations Center received reports of the accident on Route 25 South, near Exit 9, at 11:01 p.m.

According to authorities, a 2013 BMW X1 was traveling south on Route 25 when it was sideswiped by a 2013 BMW X5.

As a result of the impact, the BMW X5 overturned and crashed into several trees.

18-year-old Timothy Campbell, a rear seat passenger in the BMW X5, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The next of kin have been notified.

The driver and two other passengers of the BMW X5 were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Trumbull fire, police and ambulance personnel provided medical care and directed traffic.

After several hours of investigation and evidence gathering, Route 25 South was reopened.

The Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad has been called in to assist with the ongoing investigation.
