Deion Sanders could consider calling for reinforcements for the Buffs offense

As the college football season heads into week three, the discussion surrounding the Colorado Buffaloes offense is heating up. Coach Prime replaced the Buffs' offensive coordinator in week seven of the 2023 season, and it looks like more adjustments could be on the way. The masses wanted to see how good the Buffs' running attack would be to prevent Shedeur Sanders from taking unnecessary sacks.

CU offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has been the playmaker in six games since last season, with a 1-5 record and an offense that averages 20.3 points and 309.5 total yards per game. Additionally, the running attack averages 45.5 yards on 25.3 attempts per game. In fact, Colorado has yet to have a runner break the 100 mark during Coach Prime's tenure. Additionally, the Buffs' best runner has failed to reach at least 50 yards in 11 of the last 14 games.

The Buffs have a coach who helped Shedeur Sanders' best numbers as offensive coordinator at Jackson State in 2022. Brett Bartolone could add extra fuel to the Buffs' offense with different schemes and concepts that keep the offense from becoming one-dimensional.

Former Heisman winner criticizes Shedeur Sanders for mistreating his teammates

When he took over as play-caller for the Tigers, every statistic improved. Sanders and JSU's offense averaged 37.6 points per game, along with 3,865 passing yards and 1,926 rushing yards. Sanders was sacked 23 times during the season, setting a career high at the time. The team's leading runner was Sy'Veon Wilkerson, with 1,152 yards and nine touchdowns.

Sanders has had three different offensive coordinators during his time at Jackson State, two of which came during Coach Prime's second season. Bartolone is very familiar with how Shedeur runs the offense and can adjust on the fly to keep up with opposing defenses. Hopefully Coach Prime will make the necessary changes to help the Buffs win games in the Big 12 that will put them in a position to compete for a conference title.
