Third-grade student dies of cardiac arrest while playing at school in Lucknow

Lucknow: In a tragic incident, a young student reportedly died of cardiac arrest on Saturday while playing on school grounds during school hours.

In an interview with news agency PTI, the school principal revealed details of the incident.

The deceased 9-year-old attended the Montfort School in Lucknow.

The third-grader was immediately taken to the nearby Fatima Hospital after she was found to have fainted in the playground, according to a statement released by the school's principal on Thursday.

The girl's family took her to Chandan Hospital, where doctors said she died of cardiac arrest.

The police were also informed about the situation, but the girl's family said that nothing would be done.

After the school learned of the girl's death, it declared Friday a school holiday.

Another incident

A 20-year-old student unexpectedly committed suicide on Wednesday. His mother reportedly refused to give him a new bicycle. According to a report in the New Indian Express, Ayyappa has been identified as the deceased student.

Since the death of the victim's father about six years ago, his mother was the sole breadwinner of the family. His mother was a housekeeper and provided for the family's needs.

Since all of his friends rode bicycles to university, the deceased student had been begging his mother for several months to buy him one too.

The mother asked him to wait as she could not buy him a bike due to her limited funds. Unfortunately, the mother's limited funds could not buy him a bike so she asked him to wait. However, little did he know that she had managed to pay for the bike with Rs 50,000.

According to police sources, the victim was at home when his mother left for work at 6 am. When she returned home at 4.30 pm, her son was hanging from the ceiling. The postmortem was conducted at the morgue of Ambedkar Hospital.
