“She fell on the knife”

According to ABC, the teenager called 911 and said his mother “fell on a knife.” When police arrived, he was reportedly standing outside his home covered in blood.

Neighbors reportedly witnessed an altercation between the teenager and his mother before the stabbing. “There were witnesses outside the trailer who actually saw Collin drag his mother into the house by her hair,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the news agency.

The sheriff added that the teenager appeared “calm, composed, collected – not upset” when police arrived at his home. He reportedly told police: “I know my rights, I want a lawyer.”

“When you look at this, you see a child. When I look at him, I see a psychopath,” Sheriff Grady Judd told DailyMail.

“Incompatible with an accidental injury”

Catherine Griffith suffered a fatal wound from an eight-inch blade. Judd told the newspaper that the wound did not fit the pattern of an accidental injury, according to the medical examiner.

“The coroner said it was neither plausible nor believable that she died in this way. [her son] said she did it,” Judd told the outlet.

“Arrested for assault in 2023”

Previously, in 2023, the teenager was arrested by the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office on domestic violence charges, reportedly for assaulting his mother.

“She disciplined him and took away his video game privileges, so he beat his mother,” the sheriff said, adding, “He pushed her to the ground and stomped on her.”

Fatal shooting of father

The teen was arrested in Oklahoma in February 2023 for shooting his father, but charges were never filed. The outlet reported that the teen told police he shot his father in self-defense.

According to a 911 call he made, his father followed him into his bedroom with a knife in his hand, where the teenager shot him.

“Ultimately, after evaluating all of the evidence and possible theories, we concluded that we could not rule out self-defense and therefore declined to file formal charges,” Adam Panter, Oklahoma's 23rd District Attorney, told ABC.
