50-year-old Singaporean man reportedly arrested in Batam for raping his 16-year-old stepdaughter, since 2022 – Mothership.SG

Police in Batam, Indonesia have reportedly arrested a Singaporean man for sexually deviant acts against his underage stepdaughter.

The Singaporean known as AH, 50, was arrested at his home in Mutiara View, Sekupang, on September 7, Indonesian media Batampos reported.

He was suspected of repeatedly raping his 16-year-old stepdaughter since 2022.

Among the items seized during the arrest were a sex toy, two mobile phones and a Singapore passport, according to Batampos on Instagram.

The law has been implemented since 2022

According to police, AH is said to have committed the crime around 120 times since 2022 until the last incident on September 3, 2024.

M. Ridho, head of Sekupang Criminal Investigation Department, said the case was discovered after police received a report from a friend of the victim's mother.

The victim's mother asked for help to escape from her house because AH was allegedly constantly violent towards her.

During the investigation, the victim admitted that she was often raped by her stepfather.

The mother’s friend immediately reported the incident to the police.

Investigations ongoing

The case is currently being investigated under Articles 81 and 82 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 17 of 2016 on Child Protection.

The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation.
