Houston police search for homeless man accused of breaking into Southlawn Palms Apartments and sexually assaulting woman

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Houston police have issued a bulletin asking police officers for help in identifying a man who broke into a woman's apartment in southeast Houston and sexually assaulted her.

According to internal communications, the alleged assault occurred on June 29 at the Southlawn Palms Apartments on the corner of Faulkner and Scott.

The suspect entered the woman's apartment through the window at night. Later, the bulletin says, he returned with another woman to beat her because she called the police.

The suspect is known as “Gelato” and police believe he is homeless but is known to people in the complex who are helping him with basic needs.

It is unclear why Houston police have not released the suspect's information and photos.

On Friday, police said the suspect forced his way into the building and attempted to sexually assault the 27-year-old victim, but little further information was given.
