Anger-fueled roadside shooting on I-94 leads to attempted murder charges

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A 37-year-old man was charged with attempted murder after he shot and injured a man on I-94 in a fit of rage.

It happened early in the morning of August 30. According to authorities, the situation began on I-94 near Eight Mile Road. Police said the suspect fired the first shot near Nine Mile Road and continued to follow the driver, pulled alongside him near Groesbeck Highway and fired several shots at the driver, hitting him once.

During the course of the investigation, police were finally able to locate the suspect's vehicle parked near 12 Mile and Calahan Road in Roseville and identify the suspect.

Carlos Emanuel Hernandez-Acosta was arrested at his workplace and taken to the Macomb County Jail on Thursday, September 12. A search warrant for his home reportedly led to the discovery of several weapons, a body armor vest and the suspect's vehicle, which was covered and hidden in a garage.

Hernandez-Acosta was charged with assault with intent to murder, criminal damage, tampering with evidence, reckless use of a weapon and two counts of aggravated possession of a weapon. His bail was set at $80,000.
