Dispute in Cedar Bluff leads to arrest and intentional bodily harm and drug offenses

CEDAR BLUFF, Va. (WVVA) – A Tazewell County man is behind bars following an altercation in Cedar Bluff this morning that resulted in numerous charges, including malicious wounding and drug offenses.

Lt. Mike Hall of the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office said Timothy Lester, 48, of Pounding Mill also faces charges of assault, attempted willful assault, possession of narcotics with intent to resell, obstructing the calling of emergency services and trespassing.

Hall said dispatcher Mike Ward responded to a 911 call about a robbery on Shawnee Lane in Cedar Bluff at 12:20 a.m. this morning.

The exact causes of the argument and altercation between Lester and the two victims, a man and a woman, are still unclear, Hall said, but Lester allegedly pulled out a knife, cut the man on the back of his head and bit him on the arm.

Lester also allegedly attempted to assault the woman and took and damaged her cell phone when she tried to call 911 for help.

A backup unit from the Richlands Police Department was also called to the scene. A paramedic treated the man and advised him to get stitches, Hall said. Patrolman Freeman assisted in the investigation.

Narcotics were seized on site.

Lester was taken into custody and transported to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail.
