The heartbreaking incident occurred just moments after she sent her children to school on Friday, September 13.

Makau told Nation that her day started as usual by getting up very early at dawn to get her children ready for school.

She revealed that she woke up her two daughters, Susan Mueni and Brigitte Vaati, and made them breakfast while they were getting ready for school.

Susan, a third-grade student, and Brigitte, a first-grade student, were both day students at Kyoani Mixed Secondary School.

They left home shortly before 6 a.m. and began the usual four-kilometer walk to school, a journey that normally takes about 40 minutes.

How did Makau learn of her daughters’ death?

However, on this Friday morning, she burst into tears because the sisters and their four cousins ​​did not make it to school.

The minors were hit by a hit-and-run car near Kyoani Market on Kitui-Kibwezi Road and died at the scene.

Makau said she received a devastating phone call shortly after the accident informing her that some students had been injured and that she needed to rush to the scene.

“I was shaking and felt that something had gone terribly wrong. I immediately got up and made my way to the crime scene,” she said with tears in her eyes.

Her worst fears were confirmed when she saw her daughters lying lifeless in the street, surrounded by pools of blood.

Five family members die in traffic accident

According to another story, five members of a family, including a three-year-old baby, were killed in a tragic accident involving their car and a truck in Chidambaram area.

According to police, the victims were returning from Chennai where they had visited a sick relative.
