MSU police investigate report of assault on campus

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – The Michigan State University (MSU) Department of Police and Public Safety said it is investigating a report of an assault outside the MSU union headquarters on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Michigan police said the incident occurred on the sidewalk on the west side of Union and was fourth-degree sexual assault. They are asking for help in identifying the alleged suspect seen on surveillance cameras. Images of the suspect can be seen above and below.

According to police, the victim described the suspected perpetrator as a black man, between the ages of 18 and 25, approximately 6 feet tall, slim, light-skinned, with short, thick curly hair and glasses. He was wearing a dark blue shirt, khaki shorts, black and white Nike tennis shoes and a backpack.

MSU police said investigators are working with the Special Victims Unit on a detailed investigation into the case. They said further details and the identity of the victim would not be released at this time.
