Dramatic moment: Police arrest half-naked teenager who raped and sexually abused five girls aged 12

This is the dramatic moment when police arrested a half-naked teenager who had raped and sexually abused five girls, one of whom was only 12 years old.

Aiden Phipps, 18, raped and sexually abused five girls between 2021 and 2023, when he was between 15 and 17 years old.

He was arrested earlier this year by police who raided his home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, in a late-night raid.

Bodycam footage shows the moment the teenager was woken up and arrested by police officers.

Phipps raped one of his 12-year-old victims in a park after bombarding her with messages via Snapchat.

On another occasion, Phipps dragged a 17-year-old girl to a deserted area and raped her.

Prosecutor Dawn Pritchard told Derby Crown Court that every time Phipps' victim tried to get up she was “pushed back down”.

He also raped a 16-year-old girl and sexually abused two other girls aged 15 and 17.

In November last year, another 17-year-old girl contacted police about Phipps, telling them he had sexually groped her over her clothing.

The court heard that one of his victims attempted suicide in November 2022. In a statement, her mother told the court that since the attack, her daughter has “closed herself off” and does not leave the house, saying she goes into “shock” when she sees a man.

Phipps committed several of these crimes while already out on bail after being arrested for previous crimes and questioned by police.

Phipps admitted multiple rapes and sexual assaults and was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison.

Judge Jonathan Bennett told him: “You have destroyed the lives of these five victims and caused harm which, for some, will be irreparable.”

“Hearing the impact of your crime is distressing for all of us who have heard about it. It has also had a tremendous impact on all of the victims' families.

“Even when you were out on bail, you continued your crimes. This is a particularly aggravating circumstance.”

“All of these young girls made it absolutely clear to you that they did not agree with what was happening.

“It was clear to them that these young girls did not agree, but they did not care – what was important to them was what they wanted.”

Detective Constable Stephanie Wilks of Derbyshire Police, who led the investigation, said: “Phipps is clearly a very dangerous sexual offender who attacked these young girls despite not only knowing their age but also knowing that they did not want to engage in any sexual activity with him.”

“The fact that he committed offences whilst on bail demonstrates that he has no respect for the law and he would no doubt have continued his persistent and repeated offending had he not been in prison.”

“We would like to pay tribute to the bravery of all the girls involved. Their courage and dignity were exemplary throughout and we are truly grateful for all their support in bringing this case to justice.

“Phipps is now rightly behind bars and we hope this gives everyone the opportunity to look to the future.”
