Corbin John Maxwell charged with attempted murder

A 28-year-old man faces attempted murder charges following a terrifying attack on a woman in her home this week, according to Lethbridge police.

On September 10 at 3:30 a.m., police were called to a home in the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North after a man attacked a 27-year-old woman in her home.

According to authorities, the man gained access to the house through an open window and then attacked the victim, who was sleeping at the time.

He hit her with an object, causing serious head injuries, and then escaped through the window.

She was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital for treatment.

Police were able to track down and arrest a suspect after obtaining surveillance video that helped identify him.

Corbin John Maxwell was arrested without incident on Thursday.

He is accused of attempted murder and intentional burglary.

Maxwell is expected in court on September 17.
