Quad Leaders Summit to be held on September 21 in Wilmington, USA, India to host the next meeting: 5 key points

US President Joe Biden will host the fourth Quad Leaders Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, on September 21, the White House said on Thursday (local time). President Joe Biden said he looked forward to welcoming Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio to the meeting.

The White House statement said Biden will host foreign heads of state and government in Wilmington for the first time as president at the 2024 Quad Leaders Summit.

The Quad summit is a “reflection of his (Biden's) personal relationships with each of the Quad leaders and the importance of the Quad to all of our countries,” the White House statement said.

4. India will host the next Quad summit after the US meeting.

5. To date, the Foreign Ministers of the Quad countries have met eight times and the Quad governments continue to meet and coordinate at all levels.

What is the Quad Summit

The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QSD) is an informal strategic forum comprising four key members: the United States of America (USA), India, Australia and Japan.

The Quad was first established in 2007. Former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, was the first to propose its creation in 2007.
