Victim of suspected murder-suicide in Cleveland's Old Brooklyn identified

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The woman killed in an incident police are investigating as a murder-suicide in Cleveland Thursday has been identified by the Cuyahoga County coroner.

Yahriesha Ortiz, 24, was fatally shot after a verbal altercation with a 22-year-old man who was later identified as a suspect, police said.

Police said they received a call about shots fired in the 2700 block of Natchez Avenue around 5 p.m. Thursday.

When officers arrived, they found three victims with gunshot wounds.

During an argument, police said the suspect fired several shots at Ortiz.

According to police, a 21-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were also hit by gunfire in the shooting.

Officers on the scene found the suspect and pursued him. During the pursuit, the suspect shot himself.

Cleveland EMS arrived at the scene and Ortiz was pronounced dead.

The other two victims were taken to MetroHealth Hospital.

The condition of one victim is stable, the other is serious.

The suspect was also taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Police said this incident is currently being investigated as a murder-suicide, but this information may change as the investigation progresses.
