Two people charged with murder after assault in Swansea

Two men have been charged with murder and ordered to appear in court after a father of two was attacked in July and died in hospital a month later.

Andrew Main, 33, from Falkirk, was injured in an attack near the entrance to the Travelodge on Princess Way in Swansea on July 17.

Joseph Dix, 26, from Frome, Somerset, and Macauley Ruddock, 27, from Bath, were originally charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, but were charged with murder following Mr Main's death on August 14.

The pair appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Friday where they denied the charges. Both will stand trial in January 2025.

Mr Main's sister Nikki paid tribute to her brother, describing him as “a witty man with a big heart.”

She added: “He was adored by family and friends and loved by even more. He will live on forever in our hearts and memories.”

“He was a fabulous brother, a fun uncle and a supportive father to his two children.

“As a family, we are devastated by what has happened to Andrew. We cannot thank everyone enough for the love and support they have shown.”
