Railway employee sexually abuses 11-year-old girl on moving train; family members and passengers beat him to death

A railway employee was beaten to death after allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl on a New Delhi-bound train on Thursday.

According to reports, a family from Siwan, Bihar, had boarded the New Delhi-bound Humsafar Express on Wednesday when the railway employee, identified as Prashant Kumar, a Group D officer, ordered an 11-year-old girl belonging to the family to sit on his seat at 11.30 pm.

However, the man reportedly harassed the girl when the girl's mother went to the bathroom a few moments later.

Girl runs to her mother, hugs her and starts crying

When the woman came out, her daughter ran to her, hugged her and started crying. Then the girl took her mother to the toilet and told her what had happened.

The mother was shocked by her daughter's ordeal and informed her husband and other family members.

When they learned what had happened to their daughter, her family members and other passengers were furious. They grabbed Kumar and beat him brutally until the train reached Kanpur Central.

At 4 am on Thursday, Government Railway Police (GRP) officials from Kanpur Central took the unconscious Kumar to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Two separate cases of sexual assault and murder filed

According to reports, the girl's family filed a complaint of sexual assault against Kumar, and a family member of the deceased filed a complaint of murder.

Kumar's family, who live in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, learned of his death after an officer at the local police station informed them.

His family said in a press statement that he was not the type of person who would commit such a crime. They claimed that their son was killed as part of a conspiracy.
