Kitui: Details show 3 of 6 children killed in hit-and-run accident are from the same family

  • Six children walking to school were sadly killed when they were hit by a Probox on a sidewalk
  • Of the six children, three were siblings. They were identified by neighbors who rushed to the scene of the accident to help the victims.
  • It was also found that the driver who killed the five girls and one boy tried to flee the scene of the accident but was later arrested

It has been revealed that three of the six children who were hit and killed by a speeding car at Kyoani Market in Ikutha on Kibwezi Road were from the same family.

Where is Kyoani Middle School?

According to Nation, neighbors discovered the identities of the six children when they quickly responded to the accident.

Five of the six children were female, one was male.

The students included two third-grade girls and one first-grade girl, all of whom attended the nearby Kyoani Secondary School.

The other two girls and one boy attended the nearby Kyoani Primary School in Kitui County.

How did the accident happen?

A report from Mutomo police indicated that a Toyota Probox from Kibwezi had veered off the road and hit them.

“The car was travelling from Kibwezi to Kitui and the driver hit the children who were travelling in the same direction,” he said.

Although the driver fled the scene of the accident, he has since been arrested. He will remain in the police cell until the authorities have completed their investigation.

Five family members die in traffic accident

According to another story, five members of a family, including a three-year-old baby, were killed in a tragic accident involving their car and a truck in Chidambaram area.

According to police, the victims were returning from Chennai where they had visited a sick relative.

According to police, the truck lost control on the way from Chidambaram to Cuddalore before it collided with the car.

A senior police officer from Cuddalore said that most drivers do not follow traffic rules at night and there is a lack of policemen to enforce traffic rules, leading to frequent accidents.
