A terrible accident has left a young skiing talent out of action: Lily Kunstadt had to undergo seven hours of surgery.

Saas-Fee – A tragic accident recently occurred in Saas-Fee, a Swiss summer ski resort, in which 15-year-old Canadian ski racer Lily Kunstadt was seriously injured.

What exactly happened? A broken T-bar lift that was hanging down apparently got caught in her own lift bar, resulting in a devastating fall.

According to reports, the young athlete was thrown through the air and suffered four broken vertebrae, broken ribs and facial injuries. In addition, she currently has limited vision in her left eye and has lost feeling below the waist.

Lily Kunstadt: Seven-hour operation after catastrophic accident

After the accident, Lily was immediately flown by helicopter to Lausanne, where she underwent a seven-hour operation to stabilize the broken vertebrae.

Another operation has already been launched. The Valais cantonal police have informed skinews.ch confirmed that the public prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. However, no final results have been made available yet.
