A2 closed near Bluewater after accident involving truck and two cars

After an accident involving two cars and a truck, an important road was closed.

Following the incident just before 8am today (Friday), the A2 is closed near the coast near the Darent to Bluewater junction in Greenhithe, with congestion backing up towards the M25 junction.

Traffic jams are also forming on the M25 towards the QE2 bridge.

There is also a lot of traffic in the direction of London; the traffic jams extend as far as the Cobham turnoff.

Rescue workers are on site and are dealing with the incident.

Delays confirmed by National Highways are around 30 minutes and there is a five-kilometre tailback towards the coast on the A2.

The emergency services were asked for a statement.
