At around 10:38 p.m., a tired 58-year-old German was traveling on the right lane in the direction of Schwerin, the Magdeburg police station reported.

According to his own statements, he veered off the road to the right between the Bernburg junction and Staßfurt due to a moment of inattention.

His journey was stopped by the central guardrail, which brought his truck to a stop after it hit the left lane.

In doing so, he damaged about 100 meters of guard rail – and the tank of his tractor unit.

Several hundred liters of diesel seeped into the ground near the plank. The carriageway had to be closed for four hours to clean the road and recover the truck.

It was not until 4:30 a.m. that cars were able to head towards Schwerin again.

Fortunately, the 58-year-old was only slightly injured in the accident and was able to receive medical treatment on site. However, an investigation is now underway against him.
