Unbelievable attack in the Main-Kinzig district: In Erlensee, a man snatched a senior citizen's walker and then beat her with it. The woman was seriously injured.

Erlensee – As the police in Offenbach reported on Monday (September 9), a 46-year-old man from Erlensee in the Main-Kinzig district was sitting on a bench on Saturday evening around 10 p.m. in Erlensee on Langendiebacher Weg near the roundabout near the town hall.

Two women aged 66 and 69 walked past the man. The man then attacked the two women without warning, police said. First he pushed the younger of the two women away and then snatched the 69-year-old woman's walker.

According to police spokesman Thomas Leipold, he then allegedly hit the 69-year-old with the vehicle and then threw her against a tree, after which more blows followed. When the younger women tried to intervene, he allegedly pushed them away again, tearing their blouses.

“After a passerby intervened, the 46-year-old was handcuffed by a police patrol that arrived shortly afterwards,” said the police spokesman. While the 66-year-old woman was slightly injured, the 69-year-old was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, among other things, according to police.

According to the officers, the attacker was under the influence of alcohol, so a blood sample was taken and he was sobered up. The 46-year-old is now being investigated on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and damage to property.

Police are looking for witnesses to the attack – perpetrator's motive unknown

“The investigation will now also focus on clarifying the previously unknown background of the attack and the suspect's motive,” it said. The police are asking witnesses who can provide relevant information to urgently contact the Hanau police on (06181) 90100.

Meanwhile, a serious accident occurred in the Vogelsberg district on Sunday. In a collision at an intersection between Grebenhain and Freiensteinau, two drivers were injured, one of them seriously. He was flown to the hospital in Fulda by rescue helicopter.
