The lightning-fast Xavier Worthy scored two touchdowns in his debut for the champions Kansas City Chiefs. However, one player from the upcoming opponent was irritatingly unimpressed.

Next Sunday, there will be a thrilling duel in the NFL: The Cincinnati Bengals will face champions Kansas City Chiefs. The focus will be on the clash between Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt and Chiefs receiver Xavier Worthy.

Xavier Worthy, who showed record-breaking speed in his NFL debut, is a promising addition to the Chiefs. The rookie, who impressed at this year's NFL Scouting Combine with a 4.21-second 40-yard dash, was drafted 28th overall by Kansas City. In his first game, he scored a 35-yard touchdown and a 21-yard run, which contributed significantly to the Chiefs' 27-20 victory over the Ravens.

Despite this impressive performance, upcoming opponent Taylor-Britt appears provocatively unimpressed.

Mahomes is impressed by Worthy

“He's fast, but that's it,” the 24-year-old said on Wednesday when asked by reporters. “He can run straight – jet sweeps and just straight. He can't do much more than that.” Taylor-Britt is confident that the Bengals can stop Worthy: “If you touch him, he only weighs a little over 100 pounds. If you touch him, you stop his speed.” Worthy actually weighs 165 pounds.

Although Worthy scored two touchdowns, he was often cut off from the action in the Chiefs' first game. He finished the game with two catches from three targets and a run that led to the long touchdown. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, however, praised Worthy's potential: “He can run routes and find open space. We want him to continue to build.”

Mahomes sees Worthy's debut as a promising start: “It shows what he can do. Of course he showed his speed. But it's just a start for him. We want to get him more involved in the offense, but it was a great start.”
