Former substitute teacher in Monongalia County arrested for sexually abusing two students

MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) – The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office has arrested 50-year-old New Jersey resident Brian Kain on two counts of sexual abuse of a child by a person in a position of trust.

Cain was employed as a substitute teacher in the Monongalia County Schools.

According to the MCSO, his office was contacted in May 2024 about allegations of a sexual relationship between a former teacher, Kain, and two students at Morgantown High School between 2000 and 2004.

Cain also worked as a substitute teacher in Wheeling, WV and Myrtle Beach.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding Cain during the above time period to contact the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division at 304-291-7218.

Brian Kain turned himself in to the Mon County Sheriff's Office, was arraigned by Judge Nabors, and released on $25,000 bail.
