Taylor Swift's support for Harris triggers mixed reactions among voters: “This is huge and unfortunate”

Voters across the country told Fox News Digital that Taylor Swift's support for Vice President Kamala Harris could resonate with her ardent fans.

Voters from Michigan, Texas and Tennessee reacted to Swift's support for Harris, sometimes with regret at her huge influence. The pop star has supported Democrats in the past, so her position was not surprising, but her superstar status and large following still made headlines around the world.

“I'm so sorry to hear about Taylor Swift's announcement because I don't think young people are that intelligent about what's going on,” said Sheri of Birmingham, Michigan.

“It's huge and unfortunate that some people like her who are powerful and have a platform just don't do the right thing,” said another Birmingham voter named Gina.

Swift endorsed Harris as a presidential candidate just minutes after the Democratic candidate was elected Presidential debate against her Republican opponent, former President Trump, on Tuesday evening.

Write on InstagramThe pop star said she would vote for Harris because “she fights for the rights and causes that I think need a fighter to represent them.”

Mina, of Houston, Texas, said the “Swifties” are a large demographic that is already predominantly liberal.

“I think most Swifties tend to be liberals and people who would vote for Kamala in the first place,” she said.

Edwin of Knoxville, Tennessee, believes Swift's support will resonate with younger voters but not older ones.

“I think for the younger voters, the 21-, 22-year-olds, it will be that way. Probably because they tend to look up to the famous people, as I call them, and what they vote for,” he said.

Becky, also from Knoxville, agreed that the support could have an impact on younger voters: “IIt's hard to say. But I know she has a huge influence on young people.”

“She's a very popular artist, so her support for Kamala will probably win over some of her fans,” said Enoch of Houston.

Swift, who also supported Joe Biden in 2020 and sharply criticized Trump, urged her supporters to register to vote.

“I did my research and made my choice. Your research is entirely yours and the choice is yours. I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: remember you must be registered to vote!” Swift wrote to her 283 million followers. “I also find it much easier to vote early. I will post a link to registration and early voting dates and information on my story.”

Swift captioned the post, “Taylor Swift, childless cat lady,” a jab at Trump's running mate JD Vance, who said in a 2021 interview, “We are virtually run in this country, through the Democrats, through our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy with their own lives and the choices they've made, and therefore want to make the rest of the country unhappy, too.”

Within minutes, Swift's post had garnered more than 2 million likes, and as of Thursday, it has more than 10 million likes.

Since its publication, more than 337,000 people have clicked on the voter registration link shared by Swift.

According to NBC News, the General Services Administration, which runs the site, had over 337,000 people using Swift's link as of Wednesday afternoon. The GSA did not immediately respond to a request from Fox News Digital for Thursday's total.
