Officials investigate reported shooting, one person found dead in crashed vehicle

SAN ANTONIO – Officials in Bexar County are investigating a possible shooting after a man was found dead in a crashed car.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies responded to calls about illegal dumping in a car lot along U.S. 181 near South Presa Street on the far south side.

When authorities arrived on scene, employees said an orange Dodge truck made several trips and dumped trash on the property.

When the driver of the orange truck was confronted by staff in the parking lot, he may have threatened the employees with a firearm.

Two parking lot employees followed the truck in separate vehicles as it attempted to flee the parking lot.

According to witnesses, gunfire was exchanged between the truck and one of the employees while the three were traveling on US 181.

Officers responded to a crash scene on US 181 near 1604, where they found a 36-year-old man, a dealership employee, dead in a crashed car.

Sheriff Salazar told the media that while it was unclear whether the victim died from gunfire, there was evidence that he fired a pistol from his vehicle.

The second employee, a witness, abandoned the pursuit after the accident. Authorities are still searching for the truck and its driver.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at (210) 335-6000.
