Man dies after falling into water well, Laredo police say

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Laredo Police have updated details of a fatal accident that occurred Thursday morning, Sept. 12. Initially, it was said to be a possible fall into a water well, but it has since been confirmed that the victim was working inside the well.

Officers responded to the 8400 block of Tejas Loop around 8 a.m. The victim, a subcontractor for PLW Waterworks, was working on a well project when the well unexpectedly filled with water, resulting in drowning, police said.

The victim was not a city employee, authorities said. The Risk Management Agency and possibly OSHA are involved in the ongoing investigation, but this has not been confirmed. The victim's name and age have not been released and death notice is pending.

Laredo Police are investigating a tragic incident that occurred early Thursday morning, September 12th.

Shortly after 8 a.m., authorities responded to a 911 call about a possible fall into a water well in the 8400 block of Tejas Loop.

Initial reports said a man had fallen into the well. At around 9 a.m., police confirmed that the victim had been found dead.
