US musician Jon Bon Jovi helps woman standing on the edge of a bridge – DW – 12.09.2024

American musician Jon Bon Jovi helped a woman who was standing at the edge of a pedestrian bridge to get safely back over the railing, police said on Wednesday.

A video released by WBIR, an affiliate of US broadcaster NBC, showed the musician hugging the woman and walking with her to one end of the bridge.

Nashville Police also posted a video and a message on social media platform X thanking the musician for his efforts.

“Bon Jovi helped persuade them to come down from the ledge above the Cumberland River and get to safety,” police said.

The award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member was filming a video on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville, Tennessee, on Tuesday when a video production assistant noticed the woman and started a conversation.

Bon Jovi, who had been standing outside the railing on the bridge, joined in the brief conversation and then helped the woman climb over the railing back onto the bridge.

“We all have to do our part to protect each other,” Nashville Police Chief John Drake said of the moment.

A spokesman for the singer said Bon Jovi would not comment on the incident.
