Murder case in Rocky View County under investigation

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is investigating after human remains were found following a fire along a rural road in Rocky View County early Wednesday morning.

On September 11 at 1:35 a.m., a passing motorist reported a fire along Township Road 233 near Highway 791, according to police.

Rescue workers extinguished the fire and discovered a body.

Investigators believe that the victim was the victim of a targeted attack and that there is no danger to the public. However, they are asking for your help to find out more about the incident.

“The RCMP is asking for the assistance of anyone who may have dashboard camera footage and was in the area between 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. The RCMP also wants to speak to anyone who may have dashboard camera footage and was traveling west or east on Highway 560, west of the Glenmore and Stoney Trail overpass, between those times,” police said in a news release.

An autopsy is expected to be completed on Thursday.
