Police: Brass knuckles used in stabbing in Norwich

NORWICH (WBNG) – A Marathon man is facing felony charges in an investigation into a stabbing with brass knuckles, Norwich police announced Thursday.

According to police, Jason R. Chase, 40, is on trial for assault. He is also accused of illegal possession of a weapon.

On September 11 at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing on Rexford Street in the city. Officers and the Norwich Fire Department found a victim with stab wounds to the neck and forearm. He was transported to UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital and is in stable condition.

According to police, Chase was found one street away on Gold Street and arrested.

Norwich Police Chief Reuben Roach said it was believed Chase and the victim were involved in an altercation when the brass knuckles were used.

Chief Roach said the victim was “lucky to be alive.”

Chase was charged and held without bail pending further hearings.
