Roy Keane takes a savage swipe at Gary Neville after praising 'stunning' Trent Alexander-Arnold

Roy Keane has mocked his former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville for speaking highly of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold, 25, put in another impressive individual performance in England's 2-0 win over Finland on Tuesday.

While Harry Kane scored a brace on his 100th…th Alexander-Arnold, who played a key role in that victory on his international appearance, showed his excellent passing variety throughout the game and then assisted the second goal.

In the latest episode of Stick to Football, presented by Sky Bet, Keane and Neville discussed Alexander-Arnold's performance and role in the team under caretaker manager Lee Carsley.

They were joined by their fellow experts Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright and special guest Paul Scholes.

Everyone was impressed by Alexander-Arnold's performance, but Keane couldn't resist taking a cheeky swipe at Neville when the former United defender tried to praise the Liverpool star.

“He's got a certain demeanor, isn't he? He looked like John Wayne and I just thought, 'Keep going!'” Keane joked before asking Carragher a question.

“You interviewed him before the game, didn't you? He's obviously a confident lad, isn't he?” Keane added.

Neville then added: “I interviewed him for two or three hours last season and he was incredible.”

Keane quickly countered: “That must have tested him!”

Then Neville tried to remain serious: “Roy, honestly, I was speechless.”

But Keane fired another cheeky dig at Neville.

“You always are! Gary says to every Liverpool player who can speak properly: 'I was speechless',” joked the former United captain.

Liverpool's Carragher seemed to understand the joke well and used it as an opportunity to rant against Neville.

“He always uses the word hypnotized,” joked the former Liverpool star.

Neville eventually put things right and praised Alexander-Arnold for his knowledge of the game.

“I was fascinated by the fact that… you look at someone and think they're a brilliant player. I criticised him for his defence and you said he shouldn't be playing in midfield. I couldn't believe how much he knew about the history of football over the last 20-25 years,” Neville said.

“How many games he had seen, how immersed he was in them. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised. I couldn't believe it.

“He asked a lot of questions, he was so curious. And so was I. He wouldn't stop talking.”
