GoMA is housed in an early 19th-century neoclassical building that once belonged to tobacco baron William Cunninghame.

The museum opened in 1996 and attracts more than 500,000 visitors annually.

Last year, a Banksy exhibition was held here which broke the box office record and attracted around 180,000 visitors during its ten-week run.

It is also known for the traffic cone that sits on the head of the Duke of Wellington statue in front of the venue.
