Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh:

The dismembered bodies of a man and his five-year-old son were recovered from railway tracks, while his wife was found hanging in their house in Narmadapuram district of India's Madhya Pradesh state on Thursday, an official said.

Police suspect that the couple committed suicide after ending the life of their child.

The bodies were found in the Seoni-Malwa tehsil of the district, earlier known as Hoshangabad, the official said.

Body parts of Sandeep Lauvanshi (30) and his son Dakshit were found scattered on railway tracks near Damadhiya village around 8.15 am, Seoni-Malwa sub-district officer Raju Rajak told PTI.

At around 11.30 am, Sandeep's wife Pooja (28) was found hanging in a room of their house in Neecha Bazar village in Banapur district, about 50 km from the district headquarters, he said.

He said the two places were 15 kilometers apart.

At first glance, it looks like the couple committed suicide after taking their son's life. After the investigation, a clearer picture will emerge, he said.

A case has been registered and the police have sent the bodies for autopsy, Mr Rajak added.
