Three men charged with assault and robbery in Cedarhurst

Nassau police say they have arrested three brothers from Cedarhurst for attacking and robbing a man who tried to sell them a bracelet on Wednesday.

According to investigators, an unidentified 31-year-old victim called a number he believed to be Five Towns Jewelry Buyers in Cedarhurst. The person who answered said the store was undergoing renovations and to take the bracelet to a home on Redwood Lane instead.

When the man arrived around 2:30 p.m., he was allegedly dragged into the house and beaten with a baseball bat. Officers say he was also threatened with a sledgehammer as his bracelet, driver's license and cellphone were robbed.

Daniel, Jacob and Dov Avital were arrested following an investigation. Each of them was charged with a number of crimes, including assault and robbery. According to White Pages, the three brothers live in the Redwood Lane home where the victim was allegedly lured.

The News 12 Long Island team visited the Cedarhurst store, listed at 589 Willow Ave. The store housed a cell phone store, and a nearby business owner said he never realized there was a jewelry store there.
